The project proposes the development of an original topical formulation, with dual therapeutic action, resulting from the incorporation of synthetic (Nimesulide and Chlorhexidine) and natural (Boswellia serrata extract) anti-inflammatory and anti-infective agents in nanovesicles (Bilosomes), NS&CH-Bls@BSE, to improve delivery of the active compounds, optimizing biopharmaceutical properties, ensuring effective therapeutic results in treatment of inflammatory skin conditions and infected wounds, while reducing systemic side effects due to transdermal administration.
Bilosomes, lipid nanovesicles enriched with bile salts, are stable structures that favor the penetration of active agents through skin layers by increasing permeability. The final formulation, NS&CH-Bls@BSE, and its components will be tested both physico-chemically and biologically (in vitro and in vivo).
The proposed topical formulation will be carried out in interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers from INCDTIM – Romania (CO) and USMF Nicolae Testemitanu – Republic of Moldova (P), combining the expertise of the two teams.
The relevance of the partnership consists in: developing an innovative product through joint research; the transfer of acquired know-how by CO to P and the access of P researchers to the CO infrastructure; strengthening collaborations and integrating P researchers into the scientific networks of which CO is a part, increasing the number of joint project proposals and the success.
