A new chemometric approach for white wines authentication, based on unconventional markers

PN-III-CERC-CO-PED-2016

INCDTIM

Objectives

The general objective of this project is to increase the analytical capacity of our laboratory, in terms of wine authentication capabilities, by the development of new lab-validated models that would be possible to be transferred to economic agents, together with the existing accredited methods, for which our laboratory is already recognized at European level like Official Laboratory for Wine Control.

Specific objectives:

Objective 1. Assessing the elemental profile of wines, by ICP-MS, as a tool for wine discrimination;

Objective 2. Geographical origin, vintage and varietal wine discrimination by non-targeted and targeted wine analysis using 1H-NMR Spectroscopy and Multivariate Statistical Analysis;

Objective 3. Evaluation of the Raman spectroscopy potential in vintage, variety and geographical origin discrimination;

Objective 4. Testing the possibilities and limitations of excitation-emission fluorescence spectroscopy in wine authentication, with respect to: vintage, variety and geographical origin;

Objective 5.  Development of 3 new models, based on Fuzzy statistical approach, which can discriminate: vintage, variety and geographical origin of white wines;

Objective 6. Model testing and validation using commercial samples for control purposes.
