STRUCTURAL TRANSITIONS AND MOLECULAR RELAXATION PROCESSES IN DNA COMPLEXES INVESTIGATED BY VIBRATIONAL  SPECTROSCOPY

Results:

1.) Spectra-structure correlations in the Raman spectra of some DNA-divalent metal ions complexes, have been established. Description of the frequency range 600-1150 cm-1 has been done. The marker bands of the dG, dA, dT, dC residues and PO2group, respectively, have been identified.

2.) On the basis of the Raman spectral markers from 681 cm-1, 728 cm-1, 752 cm-1, 785 cm-1, 835 cm-1 and 1092 cm-1, the unstacking of the nucleosidic residues and the structural changes of the DNA backbone in DNA-divalent metal ions complexes, have been analysed.

3.) The acidic pH dependence of the Raman FWHM (full-widths at half maximum), characterizing the purinic, pyrimidinic nucleosides, the phosphate groups and the bases, respectively, in DNA-divalent metal ions complexes has been determined (Raman markers at 728 cm-1, 785 cm-1, 1094 cm-1, 1377 cm-1, 1488 cm-1, 1580 cm-1). A comparison with the dynamical parameters (FWHM) obtained for other DNA complexes has been done.

4.) The global molecular relaxation times of some DNA structural groups have been calculated. The acidic pH dependence of the relaxation times, characterizing the Raman markers of DNA-divalent metal ions complexes (728 cm-1, 785 cm-1, 1094 cm-1, 1377 cm-1, 1488 cm-1, 1580 cm-1) has been established.
