Project abstract

To meet the beneficiary's requirements, the goal of the MCX4STS project is to develop a tactical, secure, private 4G-5G network that is mobile and scalable, which: (1) implements a 3GPP standard network infrastructure using 4G-5G technologies in areas where traditional communication infrastructure does not exist or is unavailable, and (2) provides secure Mission Critical (MCX) communications services such as MCPTT, MCData, and MCVideo for exceptional/emergency situations. The MCX4STS solution integrates the following functional subsystems: (1) the 4G-5G mobile private tactical network, which includes the RAN-CN assembly and UE, and (2) the MCX solution with MCX server and client applications, and the MCX dispatcher console. Innovatively, the MCX4STS solution also proposes the integration of additional components: (1) an airborne base station to serve a distant tactical network, and (2) a search and automatic detection service for missing persons using AI image processing algorithms. This approach offers the versatility needed to adapt the system to various applications and tactical usage scenarios. The MCX4STS components will be integrated on a ready-to-deploy mobile road platform to provide the shortest possible commissioning time. The benefits of MCX4STS are: (1) a modular, scalable, and configurable solution tailored to specific strategic needs/tactical scenarios; (2) a robust and reliable solution ensured by 3GPP professional components that are technologically mature and ready-to-deploy with a high degree of compatibility and interoperability; (3) increased coverage and high performance regardless of the deployment environment by using an airborne BS that can be elevated above obstacles (buildings, forests); (4) implementation of local and distant tactical networks; (5) integration of an AI-based search service indispensable in emergency situations or military operations; and (6) operational validation and certification under real operating conditions.

Project scope

The goal of the MCX4STS project is to develop a tactical, secure, private 4G-5G network that is mobile and scalable, which: (1) implements a 3GPP standard network infrastructure using 4G-5G technologies in areas where traditional communication infrastructure does not exist or is unavailable, and (2) provides secure Mission Critical (MCX) communications services such as MCPTT, MCData, and MCVideo for exceptional/emergency situations.

The specific objectives of the project

O1. Technical coordination of the team (design, implementation, testing, operational certification, acceptance)
O2. Management of financial-administrative aspects (procurements, administrative-financial reports)
O3. Dissemination of the project's results
O4. Collection and specification of security and operational requirements
O5. Establishment of the hardware components and software specifications of the solution
O6. Design of the 4G-5G network architecture for MCX services

O7. Design of the MCX solution architecture
