PROJECT OBJECTIVES

MAIN OBJECTIVE

 

Development of advanced nanostructured and functionalized materials based on conjugated polymers and their magnetic nanocomposites with biocompatible properties.

OBJECTIVES

 Synthesis and characterization of functionalized conjugated polymers (polypyrrole, polythiophene, polyaniline) with controlled properties modification by the molecular structure.

- Establishment of the synthesis method for substituted monomers (pyrrole, tiophene, aniline) with functional groups (COOH, NH2, OH);

- Modelling of the molecular structures for monomers and oligomers containing attached functional groups on different sites;

- Functionalized polymeric structures (polypyrrole, polythiophene, polyaniline) preparation;

- Selective biofunctionalization of polymers induced by the attachment of the nucleotides and amino acids;

- Investigation of the morphology for functionalized polymers by transmission electron microscopy, TEM and scanning electron microscopy, SEM;

- Study of the effects induced by the attached functional groups on the molecular structure of monomers and polymers by spectrometric methods (nuclear magnetic resonance, NMR; Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, FTIR; mass spectrometry);

- Chemical structure analysis of the functionalized polymers by X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS);

- Correlation between the synthesis parameters and molecular structure of functionalized polymers;

- Development and testing of the synthesis method for functionalized polymers (polypyrrole, polythiophene, polyaniline).

 Synthesis and characterization of functionalized magnetic nanocomposites based on conjugated polymers and magnetic nanofluid

- Magnetic nanofluids preparation in different dispersion media;

- Preparation of magnetic nanocomposites conjugated polymers-magnetic nanoparticles functionalized with COOH, NH2, OH groups;

- Study of the correlation between the structure and magnetic properties of functionalized nanocomposites;

- Preparation of magnetic nanocomposites with attached biofunctional entities (oligonucleotides, amino acids);

- Tailoring the physical and chemical properties of biofunctionalized magnetic nanocomposites by the synthesis parameters variation;

 Assessment of potential applications of functionalized polymeric structures and magnetic nanocomposites for molecular recognition and magnetic separation;

- Identification of the specific intermolecular interactions between the functionalized polymeric structures and different biomolecules (oligonucleotides, peptides);

- Testing the applicability of functionalized magnetic nanocomposites for blood cells separation in microfluidic devices.

 Dissemination of the research results by: scientific publications, participation at national and international conferences, web page.
