Alexandra Fălămaș - Project Director

A. Fălămaș received her Ph.D. in Physics from Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. For her thesis she used vibrational spectroscopic techniques coupled to density functional theory calculations to investigate natural compounds and their medical effect in skin treatment applications. She was an Erasmus student at IPHT Jena in Germany in 2009 (www.leibniz-ipht.de) and a Ph.D. visiting student at Nottingham University, UK in the research group of PhD. Ioan Notingher (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk), where she worked with micro-Raman spectroscopy and fluorescence imaging to monitor the distribution of nucleic acids in stem cells and differentiated cells. Since 2013 she has been working as a Scientific Researcher at INCDTIM, Cluj-Napoca. Her current research interests include investigating the ultrafast dynamics in biomolecular compounds and designing hybrid systems with plasmon-enhanced emission properties.

Mihaela Hedeșiu Ph.D.—Scientific mentor

M. Hedeșiu is a medical doctor and dental practitioner. She received her Ph.D. in 2008 for her thesis “The CT examination of maxillofacial tumors” and has been involved in numerous research projects dealing with dental X-ray safety and efficacy and low dose induced risks in dentomaxillofacial pediatric imaging. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca since 2012 and the Head of the Maxillofacial Surgery and Radiology Department.
