Unprecedented polyesters as coating for solid surfaces with application in medicine and nanotechnology

Results for Objective 4

O4. Cross linking of PAHCA I to cross-linked PAHCA III on supports, characterization of products

This objective was to develope new nanostructures based on a cross-linked polymers. Cross-linking brings about significant changes of the properties, such as solubility, morphology and adsorption behaviour and thus is important for practical application. It was performed with poly(benzofurane-co-arylacetic acid), poly(tartronic-co-glycolic acid), polytartaric acid and poly(2-hydroxypent-4-enoic acid) deposited onto solid nanosupport and 1,6-diaminohexane, 4,7,10-trioxa-1,13-tridecandiamine, 4,4’-diamino-diphenylether, p-phenylenediamine and p-xylylenediamine as cross-linkers. Because of its interesting novel structure, poly(benzofurane-co-arylacetic acid) was also cross-linked as such without the necessity of catalysis, depending on the amines different structures were obtained. Cross-linking of poly(tartronic-co-glycolic acid) and polytartaric acid with diamines requested activation using the EDC (1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide) coupling method in the presence of hydroxybenzotriazole (HOBt) and diisopropylethylamine (DIPEA).

Dimercaptosuccinic acid and dithio-D,L-threitol were used as cross-linkers for poly(2-hydroxypent-4-enoic acid) in the presence of a solid nanosupport by thiol-ene reaction in the presence of 2,2′-azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) (AIBN).
