Revival of an old drug by crystal engineering: development of improved ketoconazole based antifungal products

General objective

Scope of the project is to asses the market potential of the new Ketoconazole-Fumaric Acid (KET-FUM) and Ketoconazole-p-aminobenzoic Acid (KET-PABA) crystalline forms as Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in improved antifungal products with oral / topical administration by specific biological activity tests and preformulation studies.

 

Specific objectives:

 

Objective 1: Raise the technology readiness level from TRL2 to TRL4 for the KET-FUM crystalline form having pharmaceutical potential for oral drug therapy.

Objective 2: Raise the technology readiness level from TRL2 to TRL4 for KET-PABA crystalline form with pharmaceutical potential for topical use.
