UMF – CLUJ-NAPOCA 

Project manager: Dr. VasileBintintan (CV) - The project manager, Dr. Vasile Bintintan, M.D, PhD is a well known surgeon with a special focus on minimally invasive surgery (laparosocopic, endoscopic and robotic assistes) and oncological surgery. He has directored 2 research grants awarded by the University of Medicine Cluj Napoca, tutored another Grant and was member in 3 CEEX Grants. He has published 22 papers in peer-reviewed journals including Surg. Endosc, World J Surg, Langenbeck's Archives of Surgery, J. Liver Diseases and Colorectal Dis, authored 3 book chapters, presented over 60 oral and poster presentations, won 7 national prizes and has been invited as moderator and speaker in over 20 national and international conferences. He has an H-index of 7. He will lead the medical team, participate in the design of the taks and PROBE and lead the validation experimental works.

Project Member: Dr. Adriana Bintintan, M.D, PhD (CV) is Associated-assistant-Professor at the University of Medicine Cluj Napoca, a very skilled endoscopist with special interest in research. Her academic record includes 5 papers published in peer-reviewed journals. She is currently leading one research study al the Medical Clinic No.1, Department of Gastroenterology and is invesigator in another study. Her expertise in endoscopy will help the team reach its goals. She will provide support regarding the design of tacks and endoscopic deployment of the tacks to the point of interest.

Project member: Dr Mihaela Mocan, M.D, PhD is an enthusiastic collaborator with clinical experience and active participation in various research projects. She has 5 papers published in peer-reviewed journals. She will be involved in the stages of tag development, collection of experimental data, interpretation of data and drafting of publications. 

Project Member: Dr. Catalin Ciuce, M.D. is a PhD student involved both in the clinical work and in various reserach projects. He will give assistance during the ex-vivo and in-vivo experimental work performed in the dry- and wet-lab, in collecting data, interpretation of data and drafting of publications.

INCDTIM CLUJ-NAPOCA

Responsible Partner: Dr. Adrian Calborean received his Ph.D degree in Natural Science at French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) Grenoble and Joseph Fourier University (Grenoble) 2009 and finished a postdoc stage at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris, Chimie-ParisTech FRANCE (2010). Since 2011 he works as researcher at INCDTIM CLUJ-NAPOCA with special interests in the field of biosensors and molecular electronics, in particular in Dip Pen Nanolitography–AFM technique and characterization of new material alloys by Electrochemical Cyclic Voltammetry and Impedance Spectroscopy techniques. He has published 30 papers including J Phys Chem C, Inorg. Chemistry, J Chem Theor and Comp Chemistry,etc; authored a book on DFT - Fundamental concepts and applications in electrochemistry; was scientific responsible for a national grant (PN-II-PT-PCCA-2011-3.1-0402). He will be involved in the tacks fabrication/coating and sensor conception/assembling.

Scientific and Academic Track Record:

  • 30 peer-reviewed papers including Inorganic Chemistry, J Phys Chem C, J. Chem Theor and Comp Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering C, etc. 
  • One book on DFT applications in Electrochemistry.
  • Scientific responsible for a national grant (five academic partners).

Project Member: Eng. Sergiu Gabriel Macavei (CV)received his Bachelor in Electronics and Tellecomunication, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in 1992and works since then as scientific researcher at INCDTIM Cluj-Napoca with a vast experience in the fields of: (i) magnetic properties, (ii) crystallographic and (iii) electronic structure investigation of advanced magnetic materials. He designed and executed a Magnetic Resonance spectrometer: Advanced Magnetic nanoparticles deliver smart Processes and Products for Life”, MagPro2Life, FP7-NMP-2008-LARGE-2 nr. 229335, and worked in several national major research projects: PNII 72-165/2008 - Transparent oxide semiconductor nanostructures with controlled properties by doping, for applications in optoelectronics, spintronics and piezotronics, and PNII 72-186/2008 - Magnetic nanocomposite materials reinforced by contrast, based composite nano-particles Fe-Pt magnetic properties, and functional adjustable. Eng. Sergiu G. Macavei will be directly implicated in the design and conception of inductive sensor prototype.

Project Member: Dr. Cristian Morari - received his Ph.D. in Natural Science (Theoretical Chemistry) at the University of Siegen (Germany) in 2001 ans worked as research scientist at INCDTIM, Cluj-Napoca (1997), postdoc. at Universite catholique du Louvain, Belgium (2004-2006) and Augsburg University, Germany (2012;2014). He had published 42 papers in international peer-reviewed journals including ACS Nano, PhysRev, JPhysChemC, has patent request on the characterization methods for batteries, is a scientific software developer (ABINIT, SMEAGOL) and head of the newly founded group for Batteries development in INCDTIM. He will be involved in the design and conception of the equipment for sensor encapsulation with complet watertight properties and fiability under standard sterilization procedures.

Scientific and Academic Track Record:

  • 42 publications international peer-reviewed journals including ACS Nano, PhysRev, JPhysChemC, 17 of them since 2010. First or corresponding author for 26 of the authored papers.
  • A patent request on the characterisation methods for batteries.
  • One book in the field of molecular electronics.
  • Scientific software developer (ABINIT, SMEAGOL).
  • Referee for journals including J Phys Chem C, Phys Chem Lett, Phys Rev.
  • Scientific coordinator – the most important is a national grant, two academic and one industrial partner (over 40 researchers involved).
  • Head of the newly founded group for research in the field of battery development (seven researchers involved).
