Development of the INCDTIM DATA CENTER for the realization of a CLOUD platform, integrated in European CDI networks

RESULTS

To achieve the objectives of the project, a high-performance computing system has been purchased through an open tender procedure, on which INCDTIM’s CLOUD platform will be built.

The purchased computing system is based on modular servers installed in 4 dedicated Cisco UCS 9508 chassis, which provide a unique structure for powering, ventilating and connecting the servers to INCDTIM’s computing infrastructure, thus providing 23 standard Cisco UCS 210c modular servers for the computing structure and 4 servers for controlling the Cloud platform, model Cisco UCS 210c.

In addition, 2 Cisco UCS C240 rack-mountable servers for graphics accelerator-assisted data processing, each equipped with 3 NVIDIA A100 Tensor Core GPU cards with 40GB HBM2 and 1 Cisco UCS C240 rack-mountable server for FPGA accelerator-assisted processing, equipped with a Xilinx Alveo U250 card, were purchased.

Each modular or rack-mountable server is equipped with 2 Xeon Gold 6326 16 Core / 2.9GHz processors, minimum 128GB RAM and minimum 1TB SSD storage.

The computing system also includes a 120 TB RAW storage module, consisting of 3 identical Cisco UCS C240 storage nodes.

All elements of the computing system are connected internally via 2 network devices providing connection at speeds of 10/25/40/100 Gbps, and connection to the INCDTIM infrastructure and to the national and international CLOUD platforms for CDI is via 2 network devices providing connection at speeds of up to 100 Gbps.

The entire computing system has a single management platform that ensures centralised and unified maintenance and configuration of all equipment.
