Results

The outcome results of the project are:

(I) a set of advanced TE oxides and silicides materials rationally designed for enhanced TE performance, and possessing high chemical stability at temperatures above 900-1000 K;

(II) tested thin film TE thermocouples based on these materials.

Results from 2017 Scientific report:

1. We have studied the electronic properties and band anisotropy for some silicides and binary oxides;

2. We have established, from simulations, the materials with best thermoelectric properties: solid solution of Mg2Si - Mg2Ge, FeSi, Fe2Si3, Cu2O and TiO2;

3. We have chosen the best substrates for thin film deposition of these compounds.

Results from 2018 Scientific report:

1. We have fabricated and characterized thin films of oxides with predicted thermoelectric properties (Cu2O and TiO2);

2. We have studied the electronic properties and band anisotropy for some binary oxides, other than in the first report;

3. We began the construction of a home-made device for the measurement of thermoelectric properties.
