OBJECTIVES

The proposed project will carry on researches for obtaining some vitreous systems, with advanced properties suitable for new potential applications in optoelectronics, photonics, etc. as well as in the immobilization of wastes; fields of strategic importance to contemporary society that are linked to the development of new materials with special properties.

The specific objectives of the present project are as follows:

1. The synthesis of lead-borate glasses and vitroceramics co-doped with Sm and Tb ions (PbBWastes products) by melt quenching method.

2. Investigation of structural, physical, optical and magnetic properties of obtained products.

3. Characterization of the properties of PbB-Wastes products after heat treatment and durability tests, in order verifies chemical durability.

4. Develop a theoretic model for simulated waste immobilization in glasses and vitroceramics.

5. Reporting of the results in ISI articles.

The originality and novelty of the proposed research is based on a modern vision since will realize: 1) a complex characterization of new lead - borate glasses and vitroceramics co - doped with rare earth ions (Sm and Tb ions), 2) develop a theoretic model for simulated waste immobilization in lead - borate glasses and vitroceramics.
