Objectives

This project proposes to develop gold nanoparticle arrays on elastomeric substrates and to explore the possibility to use them for dual-modal MEF/SERS (bio)sensing, with the change from one mode to another being achieved through mechanical tuning.

The specific objectives are:

O1. Design nanoparticle arrays exhibiting inverse plasmon resonance dependence on
interparticle gap
.
O2. Fabricate nanoparticle arrays with actively tunable plasmon resonances on elastomeric
substrates
.
O3. Demonstrate the feasibility of dual MEF / SERS biosensing with mechanically tunable
plasmonic arrays
.
O4. Disseminate results.
