Project Objectives:

  1. to design and
  2. to execute the system for homogenization of the MW distribution field, in order to be adapted to a commercial MW oven
  3. to perform the MW functionality tests
  4. to perform specific food processing measurements and tests, in order to check and ensure the temperature homogeneity during MW heating/cooking.

 

Project Stages:

Stage 1 (31.12.2017) – Photonic crystal (PCY) design
Activity 1.1 - Design of  the PCY layers
Goals:

  1. to design the PCY layers
  2. to select the dielectric material for the MW window/food container support
  3. to prepare/analyze the documentation/price offers for the equipment and materials procurement
  4. web page design

 

Stage 2  (31.12.2018) - Design and implementation of the  MW food processing improvement system. Specific food processing measurements and tests.

Activity 2.1 - Design and execution of  the  microwave homogenization device – photonic crystal (MHD-PCY) system
Goals:

  1. to execute the PCY layers
  2. to design the MHD structure

Activity 2.2 – Integration of the MHD-PCY system in the MW oven and specific MW  functionality testing
            Goals:

  1. to integrate and assemble the MHD-PCY system in the commercial MW oven
  2. to perform specific MW functionality tests

Activity 2.3 – Specific food processing measurements and tests related totemperature homogeneity
Goals:

  1. to evaluate the MW cooking uniformity of a large square food of moderate thickness - the “egg custard” cooking test
  2. to evaluate the MW cooking uniformity of a thick, rectangular food - the “meatloaf“ cooking test

Activity 2.4 –Dissemination and  participation to a technical-scientific event
Goals:

    • to submit a patent application or an amendment to the existing patent
    • participation to a technical-scientific event
